Since 1979 the members of Sequentia have taught hundreds of courses in medieval music performance, including summer music academies, workshops and masterclasses, all over the world. Of the many young musicians who have attended these courses, a large number have gone on to professional careers in medieval music performance, and several of these have become members of the extended Sequentia performing ensemble.
Between 2005 and 2017, Sequentia's co-founder and director, Benjamin Bagby, taught at the University of Paris, Sorbonne, in the context of the Master's program in medieval music performance practice which he directed together with Katarina Livljanic, director of the medieval music ensemble Dialogos. Dozens of talented young artists began their careers in this prestigious masters course. Following this, between 2018-2025, Bagby taught in the medieval music masters program at the Folkwang University of the Arts, in Essen (Germany). Graduates of that program include current Sequentia colleagues Jasmina Črnčič and leiken.
Mr. Bagby teaches shorter workshops and masterclasses, usually associated with Sequentia concert tours: in 2026-27 in Vancouver (Canada), Amherst Early Music (USA), and Madrid (Spain).
He also gives advanced private coaching and lessons to highly-motivated young professionals and ensembles.
